Running Smoother — v1.26.7
Oct 07
• Phones: the open world draws far fewer pieces per frame — smoother play and less battery drain.
• Night lighting is much cheaper to render, with exactly the same look.
• Glowing ore veins and herbs cost a fraction of what they did.
• The minimap redraws at a steady 30 fps.
• New automatic performance guard: if your frame rate stays low, the game lowers Smooth edges a step — and puts it back if that doesn't help.
Back In A Blink — v1.26.6
Oct 07
• Phones: fixed the game crashing during big fights — the game now frees character art it no longer needs, and releases graphics memory when you change maps
• Reloading the page (or your phone's browser reloading it) now puts you straight back where you were, instead of the character select screen
• After a server restart your game reconnects by itself and drops you back into the world — no refresh needed
• Opening the game in a second tab still takes it over, as before
• On phones, the glow of +8 to +10 gear now only shows on your own hero (saves memory)
No More Ghosts — v1.26.4
Oct 06
• Players who leave the game now disappear from the world after 2 minutes instead of standing around for an hour. Come back within the hour and you pick up right where you were.
• Tidied the chat bar: the little menu button next to the chat box is gone.
Smoother Dialogs — v1.26.3
Oct 06
• Fixed: closing a quest or NPC window could leave the game quietly retrying in the background, and could close your next dialog too early.
True Colors — v1.26.2
Oct 06
• Item pictures now match everywhere: the shop, inventory, stash, blacksmith, crafting, broker and the item list all show the same icon for each item.
• Fixed many wrong icons (leather armour shown as a crossbow, bows as odd creatures, and more).
• Mythic gear now shows its picture in the shop and at the blacksmith too.
Sharper Spells — v1.26.1
Oct 06
• Mages, healers, Vessa and Morris: your staff's INT now powers your basic bolt too, not just your skills.
• Companions now attack faster with SPD gear, just like you.
• Solo delve bosses have a little more HP to match.
• Click the town fountain or bonfire to walk over and open the travel map.
Account Recovery — v1.26.0
Oct 06
• Forgot your password or username? Use the new link on the login page (it also appears after a failed login) to recover your account by email.
• Password reset links work once and expire after 30 minutes.
• Changing or resetting your password now logs out every other device, and you'll get an email when it happens.
• The Map button is now called World Map. Press M in the world to expand or shrink the minimap.
Clear Maps — v1.25.3
Oct 06
• Fixed: the enlarged minimap looked pixelated and grainy. It's sharp now.
Fair Play — v1.25.2
Oct 06
• Security update: closed several exploits that let modified clients get free items, duplicate gear or gold, or act from across the map.
• Shops, the blacksmith and the stash now only work while you're actually using them.
• Fixed: premium gold bought while you were online didn't arrive. It now goes straight to your bag.
Smooth Arrivals — v1.25.1
Oct 06
• Fixed: after travelling by waystone you could arrive moving at double speed and keep snapping back. Movement is normal again.
Gather Round — v1.25.0
Oct 06
• Gathering quests: seven side quests now have you gather on the spot instead of just walking there — pick Nightcaps and Wild Mint in Embervale; chop Deadwood Pines, pick Snowbell and mine the Silver Vein in Frostpeak; mine Brimstone in the Cinderlands; gather Morbane's Herbs in Ashgrave. Each spot has its own gathering patch, and the herbs, logs and ore it gives are yours to keep.
• Interface size now scales every window too: inventory, map, shops, inn, forge, alchemy, stash, broker, quests, options and more. A window that would be too big for your screen shrinks to fit.
• Fixed: Switch character could leave the screen stuck on the loading screen.
• Fixed: the forge and alchemy windows now open in the centre of the screen.
• Fixed: burning-weapon flames no longer draw over your character when you're facing down.
Sharper Skills — v1.24.0
Oct 06
• New skill icons: every skill on your action bar now has its own painted icon. Your basic attack shows your class's weapon, and potions show as red and blue flasks. A skill shines when it comes off cooldown.
• Interface size: on desktop and laptop, go to Options → General → Interface and use the slider (70–150%) to make the in-game HUD bigger or smaller. Phones are unchanged.
Through the Light — v1.23.0
Oct 06
• Teleports: changing maps, entering or leaving dungeons and delves, and switching channels no longer cut to black. Your hero beams out in a column of light and strikes back down at the other end, with a loading screen showing where you're headed.
• Waystone travel: picking a region at a town fountain or bonfire closes the map and teleports you there straight away.
• Burning weapons: weapons at +8, +9 and +10 now give off flames in their tier colour, bigger with each level. Armour and helms keep their glow.
• Shard dungeon gates crackle with lightning, and the cave-mouth gates now sit properly in their caves.
• The Ashkar Alchemy Bench has moved to the north centre of Ashkar City.
• Fixed: leaving a dungeon could leave the screen stuck while loading.
Two-Step Login — v1.22.0
Oct 06
• New: optional two-step login. Turn it on in Options → Account → Security.
• With it on, after your password we email you a 6-digit code to finish logging in, so nobody can get in with just your password.
• Codes last 10 minutes and work once. Use "Send a new code" if one doesn't arrive (check spam).
Quill Opens Shop — v1.21.3
Oct 06
• The Broker has a new home and a new face: Broker Quill now runs a proper market stall at the north centre of Seaside Haven — talk to him (or the stall) to trade
• The stall got a full makeover: striped awning, coin sign, a lantern that glows at night, and a counter full of scales, coins and gems
• Broker: when listing, you can now see how many of each item and crafting material you have
• Broker: selecting an item to list now always shows its price panel, even with a full bag
• Fix: a server start-up hiccup that could leave one part of the world on default item data
Buy What You Need — v1.21.2
Oct 06
• Broker: you can now buy part of a stack — pick how many you want and pay only for those; the rest stays listed for others
• Broker: stacks are listed with a price per item, and every listing shows what each one costs
• Inventory: crafting materials now also show under the All filter
Fire & Glass — v1.21.1
Oct 06
• The Frostpeak Forge has been rebuilt: a snow-capped stone hearth with a roaring fire, glowing coals, bellows, an anvil and a quench barrel
• The Ashkar Alchemy Bench got a makeover too: herb bundles, jars, a bubbling alembic and a steaming cauldron over its own fire
• Both stations now animate and glow at night, and their name signs float above them
Forge & Field — v1.21.0
Oct 06
• NEW: Crafting! Craft every potion at the Ashkar Alchemy Bench and every weapon, armour, helm and accessory at the new Frostpeak Forge (top of Frostpeak Outpost)
• Gather materials out in the wild: mine ore veins with a pickaxe, chop marked trees with an axe and dig up herbs — they glow gold so you can spot them, vanish when gathered and grow back a few minutes later
• Common gear takes a handful of materials; every tier up needs far more — plus boss essences for legendary and epic pieces. Crafted gear rolls its stats just like a drop
• Better materials further out: copper, pine and basic herbs everywhere; iron and ashwood from Ashkar; mithril and ironbark from the Coastal Ruins; adamantite and wraithwood from Wraithfen
• Monsters drop hides; dungeon, delve and world bosses drop materials and the essences high-tier crafting needs
• Materials live in your own materials pouch — they don't take bag slots (see Inventory → Materials) — and can be stored in your stash
• The Broker has moved into the world: visit the trader's stall in Seaside Haven (Coastal Ruins). Materials can be traded there (shops won't buy them)
• NEW: the Item Matrix on the website — every item in the game, where it drops (with chances) and what it's for
• Fix: day 4 and day 7 login rewards now give their MP Tonic and Phoenix Feather
Portrait Glow — v1.20.1
Oct 06
• Your +8 to +10 gear now glows on your character portrait too — in the Inventory and on the character select screen — each piece in its own tier colour
Shine Bright — v1.20.0
Oct 06
• Enhanced gear glows! Weapons, armour and helms at +8, +9 and +10 glow on their icons — brighter each level, in the colour of their tier — and on your hero and companions in the world, each piece in its own colour
• Weapons are no longer cut off at the edges: bows and greatswords show whole, and a great bow slung on your back no longer hangs below your feet
• Town torches now go out at sunrise and light up again at dusk
• The fountain's shadow now follows the sun like everything else
• Fixed: standing at the inn or shop door could put you behind its portal
• Fixed: your gear could be missing from your hero right after logging in
